Debating the issues is always better than labeling, see above, and "get rid of the Senate" as well as "Abolish the Police" are dangerous shortcuts that can raise a lot of opposition, but I understand the feeling. I like my ice crushed, personally.
Personally, I find this is where having a mass organization/party structure like DSA is helpful. We have a program and with a program comes substantive policies and paths forward. The point of leading with the "striking" statement is that it makes people want to read further, if only to criticize. It invites questions. We bungled it a bit with Defund the Police, but all of these things do MEAN things. Defund the Police isn't "No police and pandamonium" to the folks that are actually capable of driving that as a policy. It means that we don't have police doing a bunch of jobs that police shouldn't do, social worker from instance or mental health crisis counselor. It means we don't have militarized police in MRAPs beating protesters, gasing them, and shooting them with rubber bullets.
All of these come with additional context, and the strategy has been successful with time. I mean, we have been building a real left-wing opposition for 10+ years, and we're starting to win here and there. It never hurts to have Fox News braying about how we want to do something wild and crazy. It puts them on the backfoot, they just don't realize it. The more they misconstrue what we are advocating, the less honest and reliable they look. It's a slow process, but it DOES peel people away. It also gives us a chance to be like, "No this isn't crazy. Here is what we mean."

The separation of powers, while touted as a strength, has more often been used to insulate the power of capitalists in times of crisis to keep the working class from actually having control of the country. It's gotta go. Also, no president (a prime minister type of execute potentially - or maybe a dual chair body of some kind?), and elections for justices. Ultimately, this would merge the legislative and executive functions of the state so that a willful executive wouldn't be able to selectively enforce laws or partially implement our hard-fought, working-class centered programs.
The United States has some deep issues that prevent it from being an actual democracy. Only by tackling those structural issues can we maintain the radical changes that we want implemented. Imagine if the New Deal was never hobbled and/or slowly chipped away at when convenient to drive profits. The structural changes would prevent that.
