I'm proud to support your work, and can relate to the points you raise both about suffering institutional retaliation for your independence, and also appreciating the support of readers who enable you to continue writing despite those counterattacks. Keep up the good work, Ken! You're not alone.
I'm already a paid member. Can I help with your new stuff somehow? I'm technically inclined and scrappy. I have built a lot of websites. Done operations. Ran a marketing and comms department. Lots of hats.
A very well reasoned request. If I wasn't already a subscriber, I would become one. You are on the cutting edge where our freedom is at risk. Laying low is what just about everyone does and all it accomplishes is delaying the moment when they come for those who have been hiding.
It's characteristic of oppression that the victim is clearly identified but who is doing what behind the scenes to go after the victim is unknown. You lose a service and you have no idea who hit the kill switch on you, it could even be AI. Everyone should consider what they can do in the way of whistleblowing. If there is any way one can be a hero in our high tech electronic world, whistleblowing is the way, a real public service.
Is this something that may be worth partnering with others on, i.e. Greenwald, Taibbi, et al? Sort of like putting the band back together again meaning the 1.0 version of The Intercept?
I do think owning your own platform separate from Substack that hosts links to content that's suppressed/deranked on other platforms has merit. Go there directly to find the information that's not available via search engines & social media.
I’m glad I’m able to be a paid subscriber to you and to several other independent journalists. Without independent journalists, I would be in the dark. When I offered free subscriptions to my r/l friends, they told me that they don’t have time because they already read the NYT and WaPo and listen to MSNBC. I grimaced.
I've been following you for awhile, but you just became my first ever substack subscription lol. It's a just cause and I look forward to your work. I study history and some political science, and I'd love to be able to contribute, whether that be research or anything. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Shahid!

Great quote!
Finally subscribed today. Your request was persuasive. 😉

Great to see all the ex Intercept reporters printing out important information and stories.

Kenn, you may not be big enough on your own, yet when you have the people with you, you are huge!
