I welcome KlipNews. What a great start to the New year.
As for homeland security's dumb ass post it should be pointed out that there are estimated to be 10-14 million undocumented immigrants in the US. So when the feds post "America after 100 million deportations" they are calling for American citizens to have their citizenship taken away and for them to be deported. 1,000% you can be guaranteed they are going to be doing this based on skin color. There is actually a history of this in this country. Most famously when American Citizens of Mexican Ancestry were forcibly deported by the federal government during the Great Depression. Outside of America this was most famously carried out by the third reich. They made Jews stateless and then had all these laws that applied to stateless peoples. A really good book on that subject is East West Street.
Lastly, fuck the edgelord fed who posted that meme.
The support for the DHS by soooo many Americans is shocking and disgusting... especially because cruelty is the point for the DHS. Immigrants (aka friends and neighbours) MADE USA what it is today. Future generations of Americans and Historians will use this time in history and this administration as massive case studies of what not to do. The corruption is astounding. All the adults have left the room. This administration sinks lower every single day. The world weeps for the USA.
Immigration from "third world" countries is the massive scapegoat covering up decades of duopoly/uniparty supported financialization of everything which entails the mass export of manufacturing and skilled trade jobs, being at first lured, then basically forced to become a debt slave to pay for basics like a vehicle, education and healthcare and now you can "finance" a $19 Chipotle lunch consisting of a mass produced burrito (made by someone making minimum wage which hasn't increased in decades), some chips and a Coca Cola. They came for the pensions (forced everyone to become participants in the Wall Street casino game with 401ks and IRAs), and now they're pushing 50 year mortgages. Furthermore, numerous conservative leaning corporate boards and shareholders got rich on immigrant labor in slaughterhouses and the property development/construction industries (did prices come down for us "consumers" as a result? NO) and their idiot voters kept electing the very people responsible for all of the above. Trumpism represents a false alternative and an impossible "correction."
Every nation not trying to emulate a libertarian utopia needs consistent, fair, and reasonable immigration policies. Neither of the two sides of our Eternal War and Debt Party seem willing or capable of implementing them. But what Trump and Miller and Noem are doing here is just petty, cruel and puerile - and should serve as a warning to ALL of us. First they came for the immigrants, but I didn't speak up because I am not a (recent) immigrant.... This is all a slow boiling of the frog.
Regarding the DHS graphic and our modern lives in general, imagery has long replaced reality. Watch any car commercial. Watch any commercial at all. They all use humor to give us a kind of modern vaudeville in which there is usually a straight man or woman and then one or more people being goofy. Lots of eye-rolling. It's all designed to get us to laugh, to escape the grim reality we face, to get us to smile and go out and buy more stuff.
We are now in Weird World. Two war criminals grin and pat each other on the back at Mar a Lago as they discuss big money plans for rebuilding a land being taken from the natives, natives who have no part in the big bold plan. No part of the cost of rebuilding will be paid by the country, Israel, that made it a wasteland with US weapons.
Look at the view of North American at night from space. All lit up with "cheap" energy that we mine, a gift of millions of years that we use with abandon as science warns us to restrain our consumption of fossil fuel. Our leader, a man who knows nothing of science says climate change is a hoax, the same leader who calls some of his fellow Americans "radical left scum" in a Christmas greeting, the same man claiming the Bible has been an important part of his life.
Old timers, remember Pete Seeger singing "knee deep in the Big Muddy and the big fools says to push on"?
Now AI looms. I have conversed with ChatGPT extensively and found dangerous things which it freely admits when probed. The primary one is it is a profit-making venture and as such goes to great lengths not to offend a user. It wants the user to like using it so it is as friendly and non-confrontational as possible. It will NOT go into anything that might frighten or anger a user.
I asked it about climate change in regard to nobody doing anything about it personally, doing the opposite by buying bigger vehicles. When there is a known problem, people understand what is happening but refuse to take responsibility to head it off, what can be said about this behavior? Chat says that this is a "natural thing" for people to do and is not a moral issue. WHAT?
I asked it to define morality and it did. I asked it if lying could not also be called a "natural thing" for people to do but is immoral using the definition just given. It agreed with me, apologized and thanked me for correcting it. Will it use this to mention morality when responding to someone else asking my original question? No. Think of it as responding to a question about the human body with a drawing of a skeleton. Just the basics.
I brought up the point that traditional research exposes the researcher to opposing views unavoidable when one is searching through all materials on a subject. AI has a multitude of sources available instantly but does not do this. It strives to present an anodyne, agreeable answer and avoids contradictory things. Given this characteristic which, again, Chat agrees is what it does, given that people like to be pleased and will come back again (profit!) given that real research is time consuming and tedious, hardly a pleasure, isn't there a risk that AI will become accepted as an authority when that is not justified? Yes, the AI agrees that this is dangerous.
Now add in the perfect English ChatGPT uses with a big vocabulary, precisely the kind of delivery that would impress people as coming from some highly educated, knowledgeable person. Wouldn't Joe Average, not highly educated and with a limited vocabulary, be overly impressed by the AI and tend to credit it with wisdom simply for that? Yes, the AI agrees, it is a danger. How about the flattery AI uses? I will turn that off if you like, it answers.
I go on at length about this because AI is burrowing into our daily lives with its carefully designed characteristics that take into account what we are like, what we like and how we can be lured to use it more and more. It is a tool for private companies to make money, companies that like those of the tobacco and fossil fuel industries don't give a hoot about what effect their products have on us as long as the money comes in. We are already hopelessly addicted to smartphones, but AI puts that in the shade as it "talks to you" like another person.
AI is extremely dangerous and should be used with great caution, but just the opposite will happen giving us a handful of new billionaires while the public becomes further entranced, further captured by technology. I haven't even mentioned the danger of AI achieving agency.
AI will stick to facts and is certainly useful for quick reference, but we will find ourselves leaning on it more and more, questioning it about complex things that should demand serious thinking and interaction with other people. As AI would put it, that's natural for us.
2024 was the warmest year since the Industrial Revolution. 2025 will be in the top three. Happy 2026 to all!
As for DHS, the fact that their ideal America is removing almost a third of the population… well, that’s (excuse my French) fucking insane.
I think we can all agree it won’t be the white people they’ll be going after to deport. The sheer cruelty and blatant racism we’re seeing from our government in this day and age is beyond me.
The insane DHS posts are sickening. I was expecting an informative article about them. Unfortunately, all I got was another plea for donations and a plan.
Quite possibly I’m just depressed due to fake democracy and capitalistic holiday joy.
I will reread tomorrow. Maybe I’ll feel better by then and be able to trust strangers asking for money. If so, maybe I can contribute (with some positivity).
I'm always struck by how Trump and his executive branches communicate like they're on Fox News, more so this time around. That style has inarguably been effective, but I've always found it so inhumane and intellectually depraved. I don't get what appeals to people, but I guess it has something to do with the point you make here.
We're living in Steven Miller's world, the bald headed Zionist hatchet man who is the brains behind the White Christian Zionist utopian vision of a return to a mythic time where phoney pastey faced semites reclaim their Birthright in the Middle East while destroying the United States and Europe

I really wish the Dems would point out these numbers as you have.

I’m sick of being realistic!!
:)
Is the wave in the first picture supposed to look like a tsunami?
I wonder how Hiroshi Nagai feels about his art being used for DHS propaganda 🤔
Thoughts on New Years Day.

Trump is a real cancer on this country.
@ken that is a 1966 Pontiac, I think a Catalina. Not the classic 1067 Eldorado!
changed it to 1960s car!
That car looks to be swept away when that wave hits the beach. Pity that.
It is for sure a Pontiac, I memorized all cars obsessively from an early age!

Happy New Year! Ken, looking forward to your upcoming reporting, and news Klips.
Happy 2026, Ken. Keep up the fantastic work. We need you.
