My sister and I were just discussing the issue of billionaires because of insane real estate prices in Seattle. Seattle has always had a very wealthy tier of families - mostly old timber families - but they were discreet. And while they lived in certain parts of the city, it wasn't like they lived in another world. In recent years however, the tech billionaire class has shifted the whole social and economic structure here. People who live in $20 million homes live in another world completely removed from "normal life" and that world gets a lot more attention that the world where people are spending most of their income on rent.

Of course the Super Bowl is better protected than our troops. Taylor had a much better year than they did.

Ever since 9/11 the patriot act has turned the deep state into surveillance state. Add on surveillance capitalism and what Saleforce Inc and others do with collected data on us our privacy protections as stated in the constitution constitutes bull shit. We are being sold down the river by our government.

While the lack of good policy and protection for our troops is not ok, I do understand the need to protect the Superbowl. This is a nationally televised event with huge numbers of Americans watching and engaged. It would be the perfect terrorist target.

Protect it sure, but 18 months and hundreds of personnel in las vegas? Doesn't it seem like a bit of overkill?
