The asshole capitalists are finding out that yes, indeed, the worker class has power and will use that power to better their lives and equalize society once they truly know just how powerful they are. From Starbucks baristas to IW wobblies, unions are coming back.

The labor elitists care zero for the deplorables; they sent all the jobs to China in the last big labor uprising. I don't see any evidence that anything was learned.

That's the theory. Sadly, they spen most of their time filling their pockets and pushing their Marxist agendas. The rest of the time they are working to send jobs overseas.

Myopic is an understatement. "Keep those nasty immigrants out" or weaken the child labor laws until we can train them for cheaper labor because fascist billionaires and their toadies gotta keep the shareholders happy. Fascist double speak.

The job of capitalists is to earn a return on other people's money. How is that myopic? The job of politicians is to formulate policy which actually works for the betterment of the populace. Are they doing that?

Here in Germany, many Rentner, retirees, pick up part-time work as drivers to augment their income. It's not strenuous and provides a little extra income.
