C-UAS [Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System]: it’s a massive military program disguised by an acronym that makes people’s eyes glaze over. Just how the Pentagon likes it. By relying on clinical jargon like “C-UAS” and “force protection,” the news media can cover the three American soldiers killed in Jordan last month without any outrage that young Army reservists with their whole lives ahead of them are now dead.

This is a really helpful reporting. Did anyone explain why, in addition to these experimental and obviously lucrative systems that they are supposedly deploying, no kinetic back-ups were deployed? The military has had machine gun/armor personnel carrier light cannon based systems to shoot down these kinds of threats for decades and they are a mature technology that only requires a good sensor system to detect the drone to work. Is there some reason those cannot be used as an extra layer of defense the way the navy uses their version (called a close in weapon system or CIWS) for drones that get past everything else?
So, the lie is exposed, as I noted a week ago, after saying that the "or" side of military training being that much of shithole couldn't be real, that the actuality was something was wrong with our defenses.
As I said in that comment, Ken, I think Iran has probably reverse-engineered against some of our defenses. You're going to have to dig to get even an "on background" comment about that from someone in a position to know.
