I am so glad I am retired from the army....one of the best things about the army, when I was active duty, was our humanitarian missions...this ad is nothing like what I signed up for. We were strong, and we defended our country...and we brought humanity to areas of the world lacking the necessary help. We were the Department of Defense, not the department of war...might does not make right.
Ken - I would suggest the following: keep the soundtrack, but instead of all that firepower horseshit in the present video, see if you can do a custom job with snippets or a slideshow type of thing with items taken from, for example, the American Society of Civil Engineers Annual Infrastructure Report Card https://infrastructurereportcard.org/. Show pictures of dilapidated school buildings, crumbling roads and bridges, overwhelmed wastewater treatment plants, strained public transit systems and more, most getting a grade of “D”.
Omg, is this a parody?? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I haven’t seen the U.S. win a war since the 1940s. Nothing in this ad is correct. It’s especially ironic after the latest debacle in Iran. It’s undoubtedly my cynical personality, but the ad, accompanied by Trump’s narration, gave me a bad case of hiccups.
What I would like to see more of is the ads and commentary that the Repubs are feeding their acolytes. It's scary, straight out of NAZI Germany pre WWII.
How come we lost in Iran? How come we lost ion Afghanistan? Vietnam? Iraq? .......this is an imperialist military, and gaslighting it's results, which make the world WORSE.
The wild work of it all was seeing this TWICE before the DRAG QUEEN MOVIE, jfc. A whole theatre of terrified lgbtqia+’s doing the Selena Meyer “what the fuck?”
There is an outstanding book by Hannah Arendt called "The Origins of Totalitarianism" which looks at how Hitler and Stalin were able to establish the horrors of mass killing that they did with millions of willing followers who would stop at nothing if ordered to do it.
Top of the list of requirements for totalitarianism to get started is an insecure atomized mass population of individuals who have little to no security, for whom even identity is in question. Such a mass of humanity was created after WW1 when so many European peoples were cast adrift, nations without states, and the "pan" movements took place, pan-Slavism and pan-Germanism being her focus.
The breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire put numerous ethnic groups at each other's throats. Economic disaster reigned. Millions of people hungered for security, safety but primarily something upon which to base identity, all wondering, "who am I?"
Nazism and Communism come to be, ready to lure individuals into identifying with one or the other of these movements that took over from the "pan" movements. In return for giving up individual freedom and identifying oneself as part of the movement, suddenly there was security and purpose with service to the movement being the supreme duty of everyone and pride in being part of such a large thing on the move. The Leader (Hitler or Stalin) was supreme setting the course for all to follow. With the Nazis the common phrase was, "The Fuhrer is always right"
Arendt thought the seeds of totalitarianism had been destroyed with the fall of Hitler and Stalin but viewing your video, I think she was wrong. We certainly have a population in the US that is anxious, insecure and wondering who they are eager to identify with power when the future looks dire. We also have a madman in the White House eager to be The Leader. Secret police were vital to totalitarianism, no one safe from their scrutiny (even members of the secret police) except The Leader. Our intelligence agencies are huge and growing. The DOJ/FBI/NSA are the personal tools of Trump.
God Bless America? No. God Help Us!
Arendt's book is long and deep, but it is a masterpiece of historical analysis. I have read thousands of books over a lifetime. This one is near if not at the top of all. I cannot imagine even 1% of Americans having any interest in it, let alone taking the time to read it but I wish 100% would. Here is the link to the book:

What a hideous advertisement. Stomach turning

Then also throw in a screenshot of a newspaper article headline such as “Too sick to work, but can they prove it? New Medicaid rule worries patients” seen here https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/06/11/business/trump-medicaid-work-requirement-rule/?s_campaign=sharetool_copypaste_view and “The impending MassHealth work requirements are going to be more complicated than anyone imagined” seen here https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/06/12/metro/masshealth-medicaid-work-requirements/?s_campaign=sharetool_copypaste_view, both related to His Imperialness’ “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” that passed Congress last year boosting obscene Pentagon spending – er, wasting – past the $1+ trillion per year mark, to be partially funded by cutting Medicaid coverage for millions, the rest heaped upon the already staggering national debt.
It’s not foreign wars the will (directly) do us in, we’ll collapse from internal failures.
Addendum: the links to the Boston Globe articles should open past the paywall, if not let drop a line and I might be able to supply another route.

That music does remind me of the Harkonnens in Dune. Is this really a recruiting ad? Or a form of intimidation?
