Maybe the question for the lame MSM folks is why you, not they, identified the variance in the EO vs his priors. Those orders are not changed by whim or in a rush. It was intentional, and the question you raised was correct: what WAS the intent in establishing that reporting relationship? I think the MSM was (and should be) extremely embarrassed.

I genuinely envy your ability to remain level headed while also absolutely thrashing these morons! You're what every so called reporter should be trying to emulate; I'm sure you've been doing this long enough to see that for yourself as well😎

Hey Ken, we know you are an excellent reporter. If you got the NY media and others that riled you up you know you are doing good work!

You were 100% right about the new reporting structure. Thank you for always putting out the truth. You are worth unlimited number of "mainstream" reporters. 👏👏👏

Very much appreciate you and your work, Ken. I would ask that you PLEASE exit Twitter as it's nothing but a white supremacist site that also generates child sexual assault materials. No one should legitimize that site with their presence.

I remember when all the NYPD turned their backs on then-mayor Bill DeBlasio, at a public event shortly after he had said something about having given his son the talk on how to interact with police. This was in the context of some recent police killing of a Black man, I think. I don't remember the details. But I remember my shock in seeing that the NY police force is more powerful than the mayor. And understanding that when they are displeased with the mayor, they will take revenge. Choosing to keep the police commissioner seemed strategic to me. Like the new mayor has enough challenges, alienating the NYPD would not be useful at this point.

I think your use of “demotion” in the original report was problematic if not inaccurate. A demotion is a loss of rank (from commissioner to assistant commissioner for example) and is personal—you can’t handle your current responsibilities. That’s different from a change in reporting structure, which may or may not mean that you or your position has less power or priority in the organization. This seems like a minor misstep for Mamdani (is this what he wants in the news cycle?). He could have kept the daily 10 minute check-in while offloading the heavy lifting on police matters to an assistant. My question for you is: is this the kind of kerfuffle YOU want to get caught up in? Seems like I just read about a guy coming back from the Galapagos who… 😜

In my life in corporate America, those moves were always seen effectively as “demotions.” When it happened to people during a reorg, sometimes they would quit.

OMG, i can’t stop laughing at this Facciola guy. You don’t get much more boot-licking hypocrisy than this. The mere fact that he would say something so ridiculous about your comments helping Republicans shows how little he cares about true reporting and perhaps even the truth, but instead prefers just carry water and play for team donkey.

As always Ken, thank you for your service. Both sides suck, have sucked, and will continue to suck until one side develops some humility and moral fortitude, and admits their shortcomings. Anyone being righteously indignant about their side in this day and age, is just a buffoon 🤣

We need a third, fourth and fifth side as the first two are completely bought off by the billionaires.

Surprisingly (or not so surprisingly ;), it doesn’t cost that much (relatively speaking) to buy off these scummy politicians. If you’re a deca or centi-millionaire, you can easily afford them too. Sure, it’s a given for billionaires because they’re constantly being nagged by these politicos for donations in the form of implied extortionist tones, so for these billionaires it’s just easier to make the payoff (heck, it’s not even a rounding error to their fortunes), ask for whatever they want in return, than to fight it.

So the chariot has turned back to a pumpkin... ? :-( Well, I'll still hope that Mamdani will finesse handling these Zionists meddling in, skewing security matters. What I find additionally disturbing is how petty, vicious, defensive, dismissive, arrogant, panicked, full of themselves supposed "journalists" such as Facciola and his ilk can be. As I've come to suspect, especially since Oct. 7th, is that journalists think the story is about them - "I have access to power, therefore I am!" - rather than getting down to what the story really is, and informing the public. God, I'm naive...

Again, good job, Ken, amateurish, untrustworthy, out-of-his-depth, speculative, lightweight, horrible, despicable, overall poo Substacker and journalistic poseur that you are, for shame, for shame... So much for the Fourth Estate.

Ugh. What does a progressive politician do after making a meager effort at doing the right thing? Immediately retract and unleash a flood of apologies for ever having been born.

Wow. The New York press goes to the Mayor on account of what you wrote.

You REALLY REALLY famous now . . . !

(Otherwise, they would've just ignored you as not worth their precious time.)
