Another question raised by critics is the mental health / emotional fitness of ICE field personnel. Stress tests, etc. So many law enforcement folks have PTSD from earlier postings / deployments... never mind many from military service overseas (although a good many of them may be aging out now).
I am sorry for introducing this. I watched it years ago, right after it was released, and have had some nightmares about it, honestly. It is one of the worst things you may ever see, but we all have a responsibility to witness it, and uncensored. I go back and forth on whether I should suggest it as viewing. It is horrible. As empathetic people, maybe watching it is unnecessary "punishment" of sorts or outright psychologically injurious. I decided years ago though that I need to remind myself of how awful people can be to each other. Maybe I'm the crazy one though.
It is hard, since I support law enforcement and am against what is called "illegal immigration." To me, illegal immigration is an oxymoron, since the term "immigrant" only applies to people following the laws and processes of immigrating--respecting our country and its sovereignty--and NOT to invaders. Refugees are of course a different matter. Calling illegals "migrants" is disingenuous and a cynical ploy by globalists with obviously ill intentions for our country, our citizens' safety, and our society at large, in my view. Those who cross our borders without permission (and not that given by a treasonously derelict president like Biden or his unelected, corrupt politburo handlers, who deliberately sabotaged our national security) and are males of fighting age are technically invading foreign nationals, enemy combatants (thousands of released criminals from jails in Venezuela, etc.). or potential terrorists (violent or economic).
BUT... I continue to try to understand and respect and keep ahold of the human condition here and am always empathic to the plights of truly abused and downtrodden individuals. I know too many immigrants--and yes, some illegal aliens--who do their best to work here and not get on the dole to sponge from US citizen tax slaves.
It is a tough, tough problem no matter how you perceive it. And the fact that our government--under rotten republicans and dastardly democrats alike--has been so unwaveringly committed to unnecessary wars for empire, corporate, and Military-Industrial Complex profit for decades, which upend the societies from which so many of the border-crossers originate, makes it all the more difficult to view the situation in oversimplified terms.
