Great work as always Ken. Happy to finally be a subscriber (side note, substack makes it as difficult as possible to sub on mobile.)
And “manifestation of their darkness and desire to be God…” is actually pretty fucking dope in my opinion? Yes, I am god, I have participated in my own creation. Are you jealous, Tulsi? 🏳️⚧️
Wow, way to divide the LGBTQIA community. Such a powerful community when standing together. Look how they changed the world with the AIDS crisis in the 80s. Any knife to the heart of a community is MAGA's jam. Who's next because someone will be.
Communities standing together!!!??? Jews have sided with the whole alphabet since forever (Tel Aviv Gay Pride parade has 300,000 people attend, and Muslim Arabs come for asylum and are welcomed. Queers for Palestine? Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel marching with Dr. King, across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, Jews with clothes stores allowing blacks in back doors to shop, countless examples of kindness shown over decades. Look what we got for that post 7.10.23. Hate spewed on us by BLM and other execrable organizations. Fool me once, shame on Thee, fool me twice, shame on me. No more fooling.
Off topic, but Ken got a call out in the NYT today:
"The flip side of this, which the journalist Ken Klippenstein just posted about, is also that they’ve come up with a new formula for the lone gunman type, which is “nihilistic violent extremist.”"
Truth and quality reporting still matter. I appreciate that the interview cited you by name rather than just leaving the reference to “nihilistic violent extremist" unattributed.
Hi Ken, grateful as always for your work. Tiny pedantic point: an acronym is an abbreviation pronounced as a word. So NATO and NASA are acronyms (fun fact--so is the word laser, at least originally); CIA and FBI, for example, aren't, they're just abbreviations. So LGBTQIA+, though long and unwieldy, is only an abbreviation.
Apologies because who really cares about this stuff and it won't make you a hit at cocktail parties either! Thanks again for all you do, especially your chronicling of our ever older gerontocracy.
It's always confused me why Peter Thiel, a gay man would donate to the Republicans who have been anti gay for decades.
Some gay people view trans rights as an attack on gay people (a minority, but I've seen the arguments).
Maybe Peter Thiel , the tech billionaire, conservative donor and gay man is anti trans. He was the the #1 donor for JD Vance's Senate campaign and a huge donor for Trump in 2016 and is now funding money to try to retain control of Congress in the mid terms. It's paid off for him since Palantir is raking in the dough on government contracts.
It makes me think that the Republicans aren't going to do much to restrict gay rights because of their huge donor who is gay. They're not going to be loud about it to avoid alienating the evangelical base, but they're not going to actively restrict gay rights. Trans people on the other hand, don't have a billionaire donor and attacking them is a convenient way to stir up a bunch of vitriol and get people to the polls.
The Trump administration has quite a few gay men in the administration, but no lesbians that I'm aware of.
It's almost like Peter Thiel bought acceptance for gays in the Republican party by scapegoating trans people...or maybe it's just the lucrative government contracts.
I’ve been wondering lately if the LGBTQIA+ community would be better off using one word, such as “Queer” (or whatever) to refer to themselves, especially now. It might keep the fascists from dividing them so easily. I’m a straight, older woman, so there may be something about my thought here that I don’t understand, so please tell me if that’s the case. I don’t mean to offend, nor would I presume to tell a group of people what they “should” do.
So this is part of a "war" on trans people. There are estimated to be 2.8 million people who "identify" as such and about 48,000 people received "gender-affirming" surgeries in the U.S. between 2016 and 2020. Among those who identify as transgender, roughly 25% have undergone some form of gender-affirming surgery. Alrighty then...

thanks, Cat!

Let's hope it is the MAGA madness community.

wow! insane that we are driving the elite media commentary off of a bunch of people giving me 10 bucks a month.

I have long written about Acronyms. Spell the words out to us people. We do not all live in the US of A.
Thanks, I didn’t know that, and just made the same mistake earlier this week!
It's not just the feds that are now bifurcating LGB from TQ+

It's interesting how the administration preaches law and order and threatens violence in the same breath.
Hypocrisy rules!
What I want to know is this:
Why is the Government of the USA interested in the 'rights' of its citizens?
This is 'facism.'

I think Thiel hates ALL women.
