It seems to be symbolic of what politics has been like in America for a while now: crazy stuff is happening and people won't shut up about it, but none of it really matters.

It's insane to me that he has had no significant federal repercussion from 1/6. I understand that the classified documents charges aren't resolved yet but seeing as the case was allowed to go to Judge Cannon I think it's safe to say we are unlikely to see anything come of the charges. I do blame a lot of this on the insistence of our media to cover Trump like he's a serious person and qualified candidate. Cable news and the "paper of record" created this notion and they've been running our political system into this fuckery in a bid for eyeballs ever since. Biden and Garland and everyone else screwed the pooch irrevocably by not treating Jan 6 like what it was immediately. Sure he's guilty of what he's been convicted of but even I can understand why people might think these state charges are being brought to trial is to try to hold him accountable for SOMETHING. But they should have gotten him for EVERYTHING and much faster.

remember how obama went after the war criminal that preceded him in office? if you don't, its bc he didn't. dems are losers and would rather lose office than dare hold their republican colleagues responsible for anything.

Yeah this "lesser of two evils" situation is getting pretty absurd when they seem to have convinced a majority of our more *reasonable voters that our choices are literally which brown kids we want to murder with expensive weapons.

I remember Obama kind of making secretive long distance expensive murdering of mostly innocent people his own specialty, especially towards the end of his second term. And look at how far we've come. Lol. Poor bastards are still in Guantanamo. Progress.

Obama was busy going after Whistleblowers who disclosed illegal activities of the Obama Administration.

Trump’s convictions could ultimately empower him politically, and Democrats share the blame for politicizing the process—just as his supporters claimed. Beyond efforts (by both Trump & Biden) to raise funds off of the trial, the fact of selective prosecution is sadly undeniable. That’s the disturbing price of Democrats embracing corruption whenever seemingly convenient. https://shahidbuttar.substack.com/p/get-ready-to-rumble

Am I the only one that buys Vladimir Putin's observation - administrations come and go but the policies stay the same? Think for a minute about what that means. I've been paying attention to the government since 1967 (you'd be surprised how much Vietnam could focus your attention when you're 18 in 1967) and my observation is that nobody in the government pays a price for screwing up or being evil. Especially the politicians. IMSHO, This is what we get for constantly voting for the lesser of two evils. Go ahead and read Aaron Good's Phd thesis in Poli-sci at Temple University. You will, I assure you, be horrified.

You are correct about policies continue... in order to be a politician you sell what, if any, moral fibre you have left and carry out other peoples orders. JD Hayworth, former Representative from Arizona, lasted only one term because he was conscientious about spending. He took showers at the Capitol, when flying home he sat in jump seats in military aircraft, his “franking” was the lowest of all Congressional reps, he also returned per diem monies. Kari Lake and JD worked together..

Does it matter? How much of this is a mirror image of what we do as citizens/labor/day to day life? It feels like no one is happy, no one including the elite and industry leaders have any vision of the future we want, they are not willing to spend the time and energy selling us any non see through cure that isn’t a death drive. Both candidates represent different flavors of worn out, confused, desperately criminal, hollow, and near death experience. This is what a fresh corpse looks like before its carcass is devoured by waves of animals, insects, birds, bacteria, and fungus….
