She has stood her ground on many occasions.

Non-committal might be a good place to hang out initially.

Always nice to think I've added to a discussion.

Much love.

She could start out excoriating the bozos in the deep state, letting them know that accountability is on its way, or else. I would like that, but maybe that’s not the best way to start out on the world stage. Hopefully she will bring Constitutional law and order to these 17 intelligence institutions.

At one time she looked like a welcome disrupter, but now: not so much. She is a bit too Islamaphobic, and appears completely under the AIPAC spell. Maybe all that and the speech today is part of her cover. Or just doing what she needs to do to get where she wants to be. Unfortunately that’s not an original story.

I have a feeling she's going to do whatever she thinks is best for Tulsi. We don't know what she really wants out of all this. It would something if she turned out to be the most saying of all Trump's appointees.

Most "sane" of all of Trump's appointees.

Ken, perhaps you’re right. Or, perhaps one doesn’t publicly announce the changes being made to the intelligence apparatus?

Announcing obvious reality in Ukraine and commenting on the obvious march to a security state in the EU are, sadly, brave and necessary to achieve international goals.

Stating Tulsi is a fraud strike me as premature proclamation.

I had similar feelings. It'd be weird if the Top Spy was broadcasting plans ahead of time. And I think it makes sense to view all the American speakers as parts of a concerted effort, rather than judging each independently. Maybe Gabbard is the carrot to Vance's stick. I appreciate Ken's take though for keeping me honest: if I start to do acrobatics to apologize for the intelligence community I better be getting a paycheck.

Thanks.

Gabbard sounds like she's been "briefed into the program" as Dick Cheney would say.

Maybe DNI Director is where MAGA dreams go to die.

Unlike other Trump appointees, Tulsi Gabbard has a solid background of respectable public service having served in the military where she reached the rank of lieutenant colonel and in the House of Representatives. She has made her views on war, government surveillance and Edward Snowden clear. As far as claims that she is Islamophobic and about her relationship with AIPAC, we’ll have to see how that plays out. I personally feel she’s rises above others in trump’s rabid MAGA cabinet cabal.

Gabbard's easy move from progressive to MAGA always struck me as rather weak. I'll be extremely surprised if she is anything but the same in her new role.

I am sure that Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK will be lining up to share all the Four Eyes intelligence with Tulsi and her crew! Too much winning!

All the news is awful.

Is it worth the effort to parse one public speech from someone as ideologically flexible (presumably apart from her status as a high-end cult devotee) as Ms Gabbard?

I hope she reads this. I wonder if Mossad got to her as they have other others. Hopefully she will stand strong. Thank you for another great article.

I'm relieved Gabbard is following this course. Ukraine has earned our support and deserves returning to its original borders including Crimea. Russia obviously but off more than it can chew and should apologize and make proper amends.

There are still morons who don’t understand how the millions who died in Ukraine had little to do with securing their borders. The country has been sold off in pieces and decimated. The propaganda of saving democracy wore out decades ago, but some people are unable to grasp the reality.

It may be propaganda, but it's in the interests of enlightened self interest, and it's workable.
