Thank you staying on top of this. The domestication of the military into a home-country occupation force, and the militarization of federal "law enforcement" (and the inevitable associated paramilitaries) are the biggest threats to this country by far.

9/11 was the opening of a Pandora's Box of "national security threats" that only multiply. How can we roll all this nonsense back? How can we get rid of the Homeland Security Department and the host of intelligence agencies? What is the NSA doing at this moment? Those who know are responsible to we the people but will they tell us? Of course not. "Of course" coming with 9/11.

MAGA? Yes, by dismantling what has been erected since 9/11. The country is in a churning chaotic state with Congress effectively paralyzed if not bowing to Trump.

What is glaringly obvious is that Israel has been the outstanding national security threat and continues to be to this moment with infiltration into our government, federal and state, and the military. Israel is involved even with the training of some of our municipal police, NYC's for one.

Our Congress is dedicated to Israel, our former president Biden declared himself a Zionist, a supporter of ethnic cleansing who saw no hypocrisy that he was president of the country that is supposed to be for liberty and justice for all. Freedom of speech on campus is gone in service to Israel. How do we think the world, enraged by our full cooperation with Israel's genocide in Gaza will look upon American tourists or officials? Talk about a danger to Americans, and Trump goes on about Venezuela, Nigeria and thinks Canada and Greenland would want to join the US! It is madness.

Since 9/11, more "security" in every regard, more uniformed people with "security" written on their backs, more cars with "security" on the sides, topped off by a group of anonymous government thugs called ICE that doesn't hesitate to attack anyone, haul them off and only later decide who it is they have grabbed, releasing their fellow citizens to find their own way to get home. They WILL find out who we are, but we may not know who they are as they behave with incredible arrogance even pointing guns at protesters. The American people are being slapped in the face by their own government, in the case of ICE, literally.

Dystopia? We are in it with the President of Punishment issuing denunciations almost daily and his minions, his cabinet, doing the same. All of them, including Trump, are supposed to be public servants yet they speak to Americans as if to enemies. What of the attributes we should expect of those in government, of responsibility, being conscientious, selfless?

Not a bit of it, Trump and cabinet have one consistent characteristic, they are angry and what drives them is being out to get such phantoms as "antifa" and poor illegals, who have a lower crime rate than Americans, should by law be protected by our civil rights but are treated like dirt, rights be damned. Look out for government power says Trump to domestic and non-domestic audiences. This or that targeted group is really going to suffer now! Call a cabinet member into Congress to be asked questions and the cabinet member is both defiant and insulting, how dare any questions be asked!

We have three years of Project 2025 to go. At one point we had the John Birch Society, a fanatic group that could be laughed at. Now fanatics of the right are in control. Reaction combined with unlimited wealth rules all three branches of government. The 1% is all smiles and the bigot in the Oval Office has removed the bust of MLKJ. Dystopia.

Who are they defending, more people will not be able to afford health insurance and the increasing cost of home and auto insurance due to the fossil fuel industry passing the costs of climate change off to the public, along with the increasing wealth disparity , increasing costs of necessities like housing, energy and food. Our 30 year War on Terror is coming home.

"'Antifa is an existential threat to our nation,' Attorney General Pam Bondi said on X this week — an outrageous remark that nonetheless provides insight into how acutely focused the administration is on radical left groups."

Fuck. I have to wonder how much that's an open declaration in favour of actual fascism as she's indicating (inadvertently or not) how much of a threat anti-fascism is . . . .

As you mentioned Ken, we slow walked into this erosion. 9/11 and Patriot Act mark the real start. The biggest disappointments with Obama were his about face on the Patriot Act and slippery slope targeted drone killings. Hard to give up superpowers.

The 2nd amendment is kinda diluted by militarized police and us rolling high octane military gear into Homeland protection and anti-anti-facism focus. No militia with small arms is a good counterbalance these days. We need to hope our service members question propaganda before abusing citizens.

The irony makes me cry to hear Congress whining about Biden surveillance for Congress members while shoveling budget for surveillance tech to Homeland and ICE. Tech-lords love it.

Here We Go Again!

I’m re-reading Adam Hochshild’s “American Midnight” and in there he mentioned that the FBI in 1917 formed a vigilante organization at a national level (nationwide) entitled the American Protection League. It’s purpose was to root out anti-American organizations anyone that the federal government deemed to be anti-American, I. E., At that time, pro German or pro union or anybody associated with the IWW.

He also mentioned that in 1920 in many major cities in the United States, the American military had secret plans and they were implemented to root out anyone deemed anti-American, to set up machine gun nests in these cities and patrol the streets on a regular basis. Political sycophant Theodore Roosevelt suggested that they round up anybody who was deemed disloyal to the country….
