"Until people stop believing in the fairy tale that the national security state is omniscient, the house will always win."
Based on the map you posted yesterday, one doesn't have to be close to omniscient to realize that they should put someone on the roof of the building that that the shooter used. If there weren't enough secret service, put local law enforcement up there.
These agencies may well become omniscient, but they are far from omnipotent. Incompetence isn't cured with more data. I thought Michael Lewis's book "The Premonition," really laid out the incompetence at the heart of, and throughout, the public health system. I hope he turns that lamp on these law-enforcement agencies.
And to this day we do not know how many FBI connections were in the J6 crowd. Oh - and what agency was in charge of finding who placed the “pipe bombs” in DC at the same time? The Secret Service. And whose texts cannot be found? The Secret Service. Keep it up, K!
Until we stop demonizing the "other side" (which ever one that is – pick your choose) and until we stop trying to foist unpopular things on American society, this won't get any better.
Well, that's a measured response that makes perfect sense to me. In the past 14 to 15 years, competence has been thrown to the wayside for something else. It's all over the place, too. And, we never seem allowed to have those most responsible for their incompetence be held accountable. We are goaded into fear because it makes people more willing to give up their freedom. We can have fear and some safety or freedom and some risk. We can't have both.
After the transparent fabrications used to justify the Iraq invasion and the even more transparent attempts to hide the COVID origin, at this point I'm willing to believe any insane conspiracy theory.
Especially when looking at how the shooter was in the world's most obvious place, completely visible.

Well put
Seems like a $200 drone would suffice to spot shooters on nearby roofs.

See Brian Berletic (The New Atlas) for an informed and detailed analysis of the Secret Service's failings that day.

This was NOT a “lone gunman”….
