China always seems to have a cohesive plan with real strategies and goals. Meanwhile, our policy is based on Fox News, retribution and those 2 A.M. Truth Socials that come as the speed starts to wear off and the Xanax has not kicked in yet.
China is not our enemy. Nor is Iran. Our U.S. foreign policy, before Trump and now, is stupid, as Carol notes, and very dangerous. The U.S. has killed millions of people since WW2 and all that death and destruction has fed the climate crisis. Militarism, white supremacy, and imperialism are the values of our corporate overlords; democracy, freedom, the welfare of Americans, and peace on Earth be damned. The budget bill now being rammed through Congress is the proof.
Mostly my comment is a collection of disparate thoughts. First, I have the distinct feeling that the US, like Israel, is overstretched. Are they really trying to pretend it’s over with Iran, Palestinians, Syria, Lebanon or Yemen, when it’s only a brief cessation waiting to restart & none of these situations is over for Israel. They haven’t even won in Gaza. It’s laughable that someone slaps together a bunch of trump tweets & calls it a “doctrine”, which I doubt he could spell. The “doctrine”, itself is even sillier. “Peace through strength” is the delusion of the bully. The “threat reduction” attack on Fordow reduced nothing but make the US look like a paper tiger, lead by Israel into a total loss. It greatly increased the threat of Iran making the logical decision to develop a bomb. It also has set back for a while the entire hope of nuclear disarmament. They have amplified threat. Regarding China, we just noticed how sophisticated the Chinese arms industry has become & decide we need to pay attention while our old school forces are located to West Asia. So we begin by threatening & punishing China, a country, like Iran, so ancient & pragmatic, they are rolling their collective eyes. I am overwhelmed by the utter stupidity.
I forgot to include how the “revival of the warrior ethos” (whatever they mean with that) only means we’re open to attacking, invading & bombing whatever country attracts our attention.
Interesting...your source is a "senior Intelligence officer"!!! In the Pentagon world that might be a Lieutenant Colonel or O-5 equivalent...hardly someone knowledgeable as to how much the SecDef was involved or not. And yes, the US military has been focusing on the INDO-PACOM AOR for a while now...nothing new there. China is the number one near-peer threat to the US. So, we should be focusing on them. They are looking for economic, political and military dominance. Read about their Belt and Road Initiative they launched in 2013. Their intent is to infiltrate as many countries as they can by offering infrastructure repair and development to unsuspecting countries. However, there is always a quid pro quo whereby China expects favors, which usually results in trying to tap into that country's mineral or energy resources, especially rare earth minerals which are vital to electronics and computer chip technology to name some examples. China maintains the "strategic patience" to outlast us in their quest for dominance while the US has no long-term patience for anything.
I agree with Palpatine that only thru this new “fully functional” Death Star that we may finally have peace thru the galaxy.

Well said. USA never learns.

Thank you Ken. At this moment in time, US doesn't look so powerful to me!
No, we need to deter the Billionaire special interest groups infesting our political system.
