Shouldn't they now be requesting "Department of War" assistance instead? Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing ...

This is what fascism exactly looks like, and where the US has been heading since before I was a gleam in my Daddy’s eye.

Democrats fertilized the ground, Republicans plowed the fields, and both planted the seeds we are now harvesting. It was well done, and rolled out simultaneously throughout the US industrial global empire.

Welcome to Gaza, USA.

Very interesting. They claim, without evidence, to be responding to invasion, foreign terrorists and national security threats. The "presidential proclamations" and other executive actions in some cases (e.g. proclamation 10886) refer ONLY to the southern border, so it's unclear how they could impact Chicago.

I find this telling in a lot of ways, one of which is that the first Trump administration was so chaotic, but this second one has seemed much better organized and planned, at least at the beginning. But now, their justifications are looking more and more ragged and half-assed. It's hard to say if this is because have overshot their initial objectives and don't have pre-written scripts for this part, or if they are just caring less and less about justifications, but it's interesting. It makes them both more dangerous and more likely to make obvious mistakes, too.

Rump made sure that all his cabinet appointees would be unfailingly loyal and subservient this time around-albeit unqualified for the positions they hold. First term included some civil servants who prized democracy over obedience and refused his directives

And that gave us russia gate. Civil servants who disagree with a presidential directive should RESIGN and take an enormous dump on the floor as they leave. The Nixon era October massacre is a case on point. Google it

The previous deployments to LA and DC led to a litany of civil rights violations and unconstitutionally disregarded the independent powers of local authorities. https://shahidbuttar.substack.com/p/promises-made-promises-betrayed

They also reflected the fragility of the male ego, from Trump to his masked ICE thugs. https://shahidbuttar.substack.com/p/the-rise-of-the-fragile-tough-guy

These assaults on our rights suggest the need for mobilization, and the crucial role of organized labor in holding capital—and otherwise uncountable government power—accountable. https://shahidbuttar.substack.com/p/organized-labor-is-the-key-to-overcoming

Are these wackos crazy enough to try this in Boston? The national military has pulled so many resources from the Northeast over the last 40 years; everything we had here got shipped to North Carolina so they could create the drug cartels & unquestioning assassination squads in peace. All the staging areas to do something are gone. The only military assets here are a handful of fighter jets to either circle the remains of terrorist attacks and look tough at Pats games or serve as escorts when our 40 billionaires (and the 200 seasonally!) need to flee to their bunkers in New Zealand.

If any word gets out, in 'every New England village and town,' oh boy, pray they don't get any big ideas. It would be a breeze to flood choke points entering Boston with protesters. And this could turn into a really comical situation. If, say, they staged this at Hanscom Field, man, 8 dudes from my HOA with a tiny bit of local knowledge could stop it with a couple of breakdowns, and pissed off dudes unable to get a Dunks along Rt. 2. Even better, try it from Joint Airbase Cape Cod. Brother, if alerted, just a dozen motivated Earth Mother grannies could flood the Bourne Bridge. Staties would refuse to move them. And a bunch of cracker National Guardsmen, who don't want to be there, would be lazing around slack-jawed on the front lawn of the old Christmas Tree shop, with nothing but dreams of the missed fishing opportunities below them in the Canal.

I hope these chuds are thinking about operational security. If they bring this circus to Cambridge, it'll be the Felluga of Comedy. Seriously, someone warn them, they'll be arresting Snow Yetis and speedo-clad unicyclists. The whole region is smart enough to know this isn't about confronting the National Guard, it's about making them and their tiny-handed leaders look stupid. And it will be easy AF to do that and the students will have a free hand off campus to get away with a lot.

Good luck in Chicago, please do one of your high-profile trash pick-ups in Lincoln Park, it needs it. And, if any of you deep state Trumpolites are reading this, please be alarmed by me, HLS are you listening? I live in Concord, MA, I live in the shadow of Ghouls just like you. Text me, or better yet, come by for a visit. You can check the papers of my roofer and my housekeeper, as I give you my dead perfect POV of the shitstorm of comedy you'd unleash bringing this policy abortion to New England.

I'm here to serve. #MAGA

Having lived in he USA for 23yrs. (Reagan to Bush years) Americans are scared of everything so bringing in more ICE and troops seems a little bit weird.

It's called overkill.

The US bullied India..........look where that got them!

Two thoughts. 1. Illinois guard not getting called up because Texas is offering their gaurd because they want to blitzkrieg the community. 2. This is going to be a very very bad situation, considering that we have one verdict that says that Posse Comitatus Act was violated in LA and another that says the use of Alien Enemies Act is unlawful. To see the as t same language still be applied tells me that they haven't learned much more than to not federalize the guard to avoid the federal statutes issues. Folks, this is really not a good situation.

In the 1880's, several armories were built in Chicago to house troops stationed there to protect wealthy Chicagoans from the terrorists of the time, workers striking for better pay with lots of unrest (Haymarket "riot" was in 1886). Also, Fort Sheridan was built north of Chicago just south of Lake Forest where the Vanderbilt/Rockefeller estates lay. Ft. Sheridan has been closed for a number of years, but I believe some of the armories still stand though repurposed. To see one use Google maps to look at 1900 S. Calumet Avenue where "Illinois National Guard" is posted on the front.
