It boggles my mind that everyone doesn’t understand this: “The Hezbollah leaders who were killed will be replaced by the next generation.” The same is true for Hamas. An idea cannot be defeated.

Thank you for your comment. I have written the same to the news media and to Congress and the administration. Of course, the administration will continue to finance Israel's endeavors at war-or defense, whatever you call it, while the idea of Hamas and Hezbollah will double down on the injustices delivered by the bias in our administration.

I would suggest that this operation, apparently years in the making, will do more to destroy the west, and the high-tech industry, than we can calculate at this time. The loss of consumer confidence, and that is both civilian, and military potential purchasers, can not be underestimated. The hit to the wallet may be just what TPTB need to try to finally put a stop to this frenzy. If not, then ... It's difficult to see how this species makes it beyond the next few decades, if not shorter.

If we, the people, are not in agreement with this outcome, it behooves us to act, now, in whatever ways we can to prevent this madness from continuing. The answers to how, are probably not found on the evening news.

Yes; Panetta was surprisingly frank about the supply chain perils. You know it must be bad when the former cia director is willing to criticize Israel lol

We do need to do something to show the powers that be that what they’re pulling is not our will (NOW! is kind of a great resistance group name. I wonder if it’s taken), and I am very distrustful of a protests being infiltrated with bad actors from the deep state. What if we picked a day in the next 2-3 weeks where no one spent ANY money and we all stayed home from work and school? The only thing they care about is money, and this could be a safe way to let them know that we are fed the fuck up with their nonsense. I don’t know who all this big brother/war machine shit is for, but it’s not for the humans.

The trend of increasing civilian deaths that was started with WW2 continues. There can't be any massed armed forces now as the 1991 Gulf War demonstrated. Air power in WW2 was devastating to civilian populations and this pager attack is simply the latest iteration of killing regardless. What makes Israel extremely frightening to me is their assessment of themselves as unique above all others around them with a license from history, the holocaust, to kill as much and in any way they wish because the wrong that was done in WW2 is so far beyond anything else that 10's of thousands dead is insignificant. Israel is by definition a victim no matter what it does to others. Combine this with the idea that "they are out to kill us" making all of humanity more or less Nazi in intent and you have an outlook that, I fully believe, would allow Israel to use its nuclear weapons without the hesitation of any other nuclear weapon possessing state. Netanyahu's continual statements about "a second holocaust" and his explanation of Israel being the force of light vs "amalek" should strike fear into every American heart that we have tied ourselves to madness with no qualification.

The 1967 war gave the impression that God might be involved protecting Israel, topping off the wonder of Israelis that they had managed to establish the state that existed up to 1967. That America, thanks to the corruption of Congress that allows any lobby to have its way, has carefully sheltered Israel from any consequences to what it does including, incredible to me, the slaughter in Gaza, makes me think that the only thing that will wake up Americans to the disaster of the "special relationship" is Americans dying in defense of an ethnic cleansing project even as it is indisputable that Jews are fully integrated into US society and far safer here than if they are in Israel. America is doing all that it can do by protecting American Jews as it does all American citizens. The capture by Zionism to the point of Biden saying he is a Zionist is terrifying, the greatest threat by far to US national security.

But Trump and Harris are all in for Israel, Trump quite openly in thrall to the money of Israeli billionaire Miriam Adelson. The only clear thinking comes from Jill Stein who sees that weapons shipments to Israel must be stopped. Without consequences, the abuse of power in Israel can only get worse. Combine self-righteousness with the capture of the world's only superpower and nothing can be ruled out.

Astoundingly, there is no general uproar in America, apathy rules aided by a historic bad feeling for Arabs. We must watch the "antisemitism in America" circus while our weapons slaughter Palestinians without limit under the complete control of Netanyahu - but no investigation of that! The clueless GWB wondered why we are hated.

You asked the esential question: can Israel say that it is any safer than before? Then you answered that you doubt it is any safer. In fact, tit for tat erases the question. The final book of the Bible, Revelation to John tells us that we must endure violence and never come back with same. Only then can the Kin-dom of Heaven be on Earth.

Sorta reminds me of a bumper sticker my friend had, "War doesn't decide who's right, just who's left." And the part about whak-a-mole: it is easy to think of that as an unintended outcome. But the more I read about the U.S. since Truman and the creation of the National Security industry (most recently in Gore Vidal's "Narratives of Empire" series), the more I realize that it's all entirely intended. "Perpetual war for perpetual peace."

Just in: IMPORTANT – Very Specific Russian Strategy for Ukraine Reported

There are sudden reports from both Russia and Europe about a specific Russian strategy in regard of large missile, including long-range missile, attacks on Russian proper:

In case of even a single long-range missile attack on Russia’s proper, Russia will respond with a tactical nuclear bombing of Ukraine – specifically -- a target in Lavov city larger metropolitan area.

• Since such missile attacks can’t be done without technical support by US/NATO, both have already been informed about the decision.

• In case that attacks continue other parts of Lavov city area in western Ukraine will be bombed again and again.

• Reportedly, when appropriate, Russia will make the strategy announcement public - for humane reasons – for population to be informed.

Without such missile provocation by US/NATO, Russia will conclude its defensive operations in Ukraine using non-nuclear weapons.

It would be important to try to obtain more information and further confirmation on this specific and decisive Russia’s strategic decision. It is definitely not unexpected or surprising in light of current war insanity, especially in UK, Denmark and Baltics political leadership. Like in case of Hiroshima such action would likely be legal and justified in order to minimize further war suffering

For context it’s probably worth noting that Panetta has a major role at The Center for Strategic and International Studies which is basically a chamber of commerce for the defense industry, in addition to his own greenwashing NGO, the Panetta Institute. Any ‘public interest’ comments he makes should, IMHO, be categorized as a sales pitch.
